Hi! This is RoadMe

We’re building an app for people who want to do more than just visit a new city — they want to truly experience it.

Today, planning a trip often becomes a job of its own. You need to browse travel guides, find interesting places, save dozens of spots on a map, figure out what’s actually worth seeing and what you can skip. And then you still have to work out how to connect everything into a sensible route without spending half the day traveling between randomly chosen places.

We want to make that process simpler.

RoadMe is a personal city guide that helps you decide what to see and takes you through the city along a route that fits you.

At the heart of RoadMe is an extensive database of places across each city. It’s not limited to the famous landmarks that appear in every travel guide. We collect museums, architecture, monuments, squares, parks, viewpoints, and many less obvious places that are easy to walk past without ever knowing their story.

But simply putting thousands of pins on a map isn’t enough.

We want RoadMe to understand what you’re interested in, how much time you have, and how to make the most of your walk. Based on that, the app will help create a rich, logical route through the city — without requiring you to spend hours sorting through places and planning the journey between them yourself.

And routes are only part of the idea.

You’ll also be able to open a city and explore it on your own: see interesting places around you, choose a particular destination, and navigate to it. And when you reach a landmark, you’ll be able to learn what you’re looking at, why the place matters, what details are worth noticing, and what happened there in the past.

Essentially, we want to bring together a map, routes, and a complete city guide in a single app.

Why we’re starting this blog

RoadMe is still in development.

Instead of disappearing for months and eventually presenting a finished app, we’ve decided to share the process of building it along the way.

Here, we’ll show new designs and features, explain how we collect information about cities and build routes, share difficult decisions, and occasionally talk about things we had to rethink and rebuild completely.

There’s much more work behind a simple pin on a map than it might seem: choosing places that are genuinely worth seeing, verifying information about them, determining their significance, preparing descriptions and photos, and then teaching the app how to use all of this when building routes.

We want to share that process too.

Our goal is fairly simple:

to help you spend less time planning a new city and more time experiencing it.

This is RoadMe.

And this is just the beginning.
