Luggage storage in Bordeaux: Saint-Jean station and the centre

Traveller relieved after leaving a suitcase in storage

For luggage storage inside Bordeaux Saint-Jean station, start with the staffed Bagmobile facility in Hall 2, level −1. For time spent mainly in central Bordeaux, compare a central locker with a nearby partner shop or hotel. The best choice is the one from which you can collect your bags reliably before your onward journey.

There is an important distinction: a station facility, a storage partner near the station and an automated locker in the centre are different places. This guide explains the options, published prices and collection arrangements checked on 27 October 2026. Availability for your particular date still needs confirmation.

Choose the collection point before the cheapest headline

Once the bags are stored, try RoadMe: in supported destinations the app develops a personal sightseeing plan around your interests and pace. Organising the visit in the app is much easier than assembling a day from separate recommendations.

Work backwards from when you need the suitcase again. A central drop-off may save carrying it during the day but add a separate collection journey before the train. Conversely, returning to the station solely to retrieve a bag can be inconvenient when your next departure is somewhere else.

Compare the complete cost for your actual bag count and storage duration. An hourly locker price and a daily per-bag price are not interchangeable. Add the effect of a return trip and leave time for staff to locate the bags or for you to open the locker.

Inside Saint-Jean: where Bagmobile is located

SNCF Gares & Connexions places the station luggage service in Hall 2, level −1, in the corridor leading towards parking and short-stay area 2. Bordeaux’s tourism office independently gives Hall 2, level −1. Save those instructions alongside the booking rather than relying on the station’s general map pin.

Some operator address fields omit the minus sign, while the operator’s main description also says level −1. Use the station’s specific service directions and current signs on arrival. This is a staffed facility within the station, not a promise that every online listing labelled “Bordeaux station” is in the same place.

The current published opening hours are 08:15–21:00 every day. The station itself has different opening arrangements, so an accessible station building does not mean the luggage counter is open. Check the service hours for your date, particularly if you intend to arrive at the beginning or end of the day.

The tourism office says you can visit without a reservation; the operator recommends online booking. Those statements can coexist: walk-in access does not guarantee spare capacity for every item at any moment. For a group, unusual luggage or a tight schedule, confirm the arrangement in advance.

Bagmobile prices: size and extra days matter

The station’s published tariff distinguishes cabin, medium and large luggage. When checked, the first-day amounts were €5.50, €7.50 and €9.50 respectively. Ask how your actual suitcase is classified rather than applying an airline’s cabin-bag label to a different provider’s categories.

Cabin bag€5.50Confirm the accepted category
Medium bag€7.50Check the actual item
Large bag€9.50Do not assume the cabin rate

A short visit does not automatically produce an hourly discount at a daily-priced facility. For storage crossing a date boundary, ask which period is being charged and when the next day begins. Compare the final booking total, not a calculation based on assumptions about midnight or rolling hours.

The listing also mentions luggage delivery and porter services. Treat those as separate services requiring their own arrangement. A storage receipt does not automatically include delivery to your hotel, airport or home, and a delivery service needs an agreed destination and timing.

For a family, count every item that will actually be deposited. Decide whether small belongings can safely remain inside a larger closed case, subject to the provider’s rules. Our travel budget guide helps compare the complete storage cost with transport and other optional expenses.

A central automated option: Pop’in Locker

Pop’in Locker lists its address as 9 rue Huguerie, 33000 Bordeaux. The operator publishes access from 06:00 to 23:00 and explicitly says luggage cannot be collected outside those hours. An automated system is therefore not the same as unrestricted overnight access.

The published process starts with online registration, followed by an SMS containing a PIN and a link to the access QR code. At the site, the code is used for entry and the terminal recognises the registration. The operator then describes choosing the size and duration, paying and placing the luggage in the opened locker.

Do not mistake registration for a completed reservation of a particular compartment. Check what your confirmation actually secures and whether capacity is guaranteed for your selected time. Before travelling there with luggage, establish how the service works for your date and which contact channel can help if access fails.

The site illustrates bag types and advises checking fit with its sizing template. Those examples should not be read as a universal guarantee that every case marketed as “cabin luggage” will fit. Wheels, handles and expanded fabric sections are part of the item’s real dimensions.

Comparing hourly lockers with a daily luggage counter

For its M category, Pop’in Locker currently publishes €3 for one hour, €6.90 for three hours, €7.60 for eight hours and €12.20 for 24 hours. These are the operator’s listed size-and-duration examples, not a claim that every traveller should choose that category.

The difference is useful: a very short stay and a full day can lead to different choices. Check the compartment you actually need, the billing period and the final amount. Do not multiply a starting hourly price across a day when the operator publishes separate duration bands.

“24 hours” in a price table does not override a building’s collection hours. If a storage period runs through the night, you still need to know when you can enter and retrieve the bag. For Pop’in Locker, the published 06:00–23:00 access window remains essential.

If several bags might share a compartment, confirm the provider’s rules and actual fit before relying on that saving. Never force a door closed around straps or handles. A slightly cheaper booking loses its advantage if you arrive with an item the selected space cannot accept.

Nannybag and Bounce: nearby does not mean inside the station

Nannybag and Bounce list storage partners around Bordeaux, including station-area and central locations. These may be shops or hotels rather than dedicated station facilities. Read the exact address and entrance instructions for the selected partner; the district name is not sufficient for finding the door.

Nannybag’s Bordeaux information says reservations must be booked and paid online rather than paid at the location. It describes storage at partner businesses. Check the actual date, luggage count and partner hours before completing a booking, and keep the confirmation available for arrival.

Bounce’s booking instructions ask you to choose a location, dates, times and bag types, then review and pay. Its check-in guidance describes showing the booking and using the available QR code, PIN or booking ID as applicable. Follow your specific confirmation instead of expecting every partner to use an identical process.

A city page can show a low starting rate while individual locations show different amounts. Bag categories, date and product can affect what you are selecting. We do not use an advertising headline as a guaranteed price for a particular Bordeaux partner: compare the final total for the same stay.

Similarly, support described as available around the clock does not make every shop open around the clock. Some individual partners may offer extended or continuous hours, but that must be true of the location and date you choose. Read any instructions governing entry to a hotel or staffed business.

Station or centre: choose around the return journey

If your train departs from Saint-Jean and the luggage counter’s hours work, leaving bags at the station can remove a separate collection stop. You can return, retrieve the case and continue towards the train. Allow time for all those stages rather than treating the luggage counter as the platform.

If you are staying near the centre and leaving later from your accommodation, a central location may be more logical. Ask your hotel whether it can store bags before check-in or after checkout, and establish the conditions. Do not assume a hotel accepts non-guests or guarantees a service that has not been arranged.

For a station-area partner, consider the real door-to-door walk with luggage. The return includes leaving the business, reaching the correct station access and finding the departure information. A map’s short distance does not account for a queue at pickup or the time needed to reorganise several bags.

Make a simple personal deadline: when you must leave the city centre, when you need to be at storage and when you want to be ready inside the station. Those margins depend on your group and journey. Keep a workable buffer instead of borrowing another traveller’s fastest reported transfer.

Prepare the bag before handing it over

Keep the items you will need during the day: phone, ticket, keys, payment method and essential personal belongings. Think about what you may need if pickup is delayed. Do not leave the only means of opening an automated locker locked inside that locker.

Close the case and check its outer pockets. Remove or secure loose straps that can catch when the bag is moved. A photograph of your luggage can help identify it if several similar cases are stored, but it is not a substitute for the provider’s claim ticket or collection procedure.

Ask which items the service accepts and what its protection terms exclude. Do not treat an advertised protection limit as unconditional insurance for every possession. If a valuable or unusual object matters to the decision, read the conditions and obtain clarification before depositing it.

For staffed storage, establish how collection is matched to your booking and keep the receipt or reference. For an automated locker, retain the access information securely. Save the address and assistance contact as well as the booking, so you can return without searching through unrelated messages.

Late pickup, phone trouble and changed plans

If your plans change, contact the storage provider while the location is still open. Ask whether an extension is possible and what it costs. A message sent after closing does not create a right to enter, and paying for more storage time does not necessarily extend physical access hours.

For a phone-based system, check battery and connectivity before arrival. If an SMS is required, ensure the number entered can receive it, including the correct country code. Ask the operator how to handle an access problem rather than assuming a screenshot or another person’s phone will always be accepted.

When collecting, check that the bag is yours and examine it before leaving. If there is a problem, notify staff or support through the provider’s procedure and keep the relevant records. Avoid leaving the discussion until after your onward journey if it can be raised at the location.

Our guide to organising late arrivals and accommodation access explains a related principle: a booking and a usable entrance are separate arrangements. The same distinction matters when your Bordeaux day ends close to a storage location’s closing time.

For the sightseeing time between drop-off and collection, open RoadMe and let the app develop a personal trip plan around what interests you in supported destinations. Keeping a coherent programme in the app is more convenient than rebuilding it from scattered notes while carrying on with the day.
