Alhambra Tickets: Visit Types and Nasrid Palaces Entry Time

9 min read

Traveller admiring the real Court of the Lions arcade in the Alhambra

For a daytime visit that includes the Nasrid Palaces, choose Alhambra General and select a palace entry time you can keep. The cheaper Gardens, Generalife and Alcazaba ticket does not include those palaces. Your palace time refers to the entrance of that specific area, not to arriving at the main entrance of the Alhambra.

Bring the original identity document required for your personal ticket and keep a readable ticket with its code. Children also need tickets. This guide compares the official options and the practical conditions checked in October 2026; it does not promise availability, a completed booking or admission after a missed slot.

Which Alhambra ticket should you choose?

Decide whether you want the Nasrid Palaces by day, a garden-focused visit without them, or a separate night experience. Similar product names do not give identical access. Check the included spaces and both the date and time before paying.

Let the booking fit the trip you want. In supported cities, RoadMe conveniently prepares a complete personalised travel plan around your interests, dates and pace, leaving room for a fixed museum or palace appointment.

These are the prices displayed on the official product pages, not a promise that every category or date has the same availability. A guided tour, transport package or other combination can contain extra services. Compare the actual product rather than assuming a higher total is simply an expensive version of the same admission.

The Nasrid Palaces time is the appointment that matters

The Alhambra is a large monumental complex with several separately controlled areas. Reaching the complex does not mean you have reached the palace entrance. Allow for your journey, checks and the walk within the site before the time on the ticket, without treating an estimated walking time as a guaranteed transfer.

Read the field identifying access to the Nasrid Palaces. Do not replace it with a tour meeting time, an email delivery time or the general opening hour. If a guide has a separate meeting appointment, establish both times and their locations before travel.

The official information requires punctuality and says the right to the palace visit is lost after the assigned slot. Do not budget on a supposed thirty-minute late-arrival allowance. If your ticket says 11:00, plan to be at the correct palace entrance for that appointment, rather than reaching a bus stop or ticket office then.

A missed palace slot does not turn a garden ticket into a palace ticket or guarantee a replacement reservation. If a delay occurs, ask authorised staff what remains possible under your actual ticket. Do not buy an unrelated second product without checking what it includes.

For the general daytime product, the other included areas can be visited during their opening hours on the ticket date. The specific palace appointment and the overall site opening period are different constraints; neither should be ignored.

What each visit includes

Alhambra General includes the Nasrid Palaces alongside the Partal, Alcazaba and Generalife listed on its product page. The gardens are already part of that general visit, so a second gardens ticket is not automatically necessary. Check your chosen product before paying twice for overlapping access.

The Gardens, Generalife and Alcazaba product includes its named palace and garden areas, but not the Nasrid Palaces. The word “palace” in Generalife does not mean it includes every palace in the complex. This distinction matters when a search result casually labels both products an Alhambra ticket.

The night palace visit has its own spaces and schedule. It is a different way to see selected interiors, not a cheaper full daytime General ticket. Do not assume that buying it also permits an afternoon visit to all the gardens or the Alcazaba.

Alhambra Experiences combines a night visit to the Nasrid Palaces on the date indicated with daytime access to the other listed areas on the following day. That sequence needs two usable dates. It is unsuitable if you leave Granada before the daytime portion and wanted everything in one afternoon.

Other official combinations exist, including products involving additional monuments. Compare those only if the additional places interest you and their validity suits the stay. A bigger list of included sites is not by itself a reason to buy a more complicated product.

How to book without confusing the options

  1. Start with the Patronato's official ticket portal and choose the product by its exact name.
  2. Select a suitable date and, where included, the Nasrid Palaces slot.
  3. Enter each visitor's identity details carefully and add the required child tickets.
  4. Check the basket: names, document details, date, slot, categories and total.
  5. Read the change and refund conditions before payment.
  6. Open the actual tickets after purchase and keep the confirmation and usable codes accessible.

Online purchase requires payment when the order is placed. The official system does not offer an unpaid reservation to settle later. Availability can change while you are deciding, so a date seen in a search result is not evidence of a secured booking.

If your chosen product is unavailable, check other dates or another suitable official product. Do not buy a gardens-only ticket on the assumption that you can upgrade it at the palace entrance. A night visit or Experiences may suit a different schedule, but their contents must be evaluated independently.

For ticket categories, timed admission and the distinction between a reservation and usable entry document, see our guide to museum and exhibition tickets. The same careful comparison is useful here, while the Alhambra's own conditions remain decisive.

Names and original identity documents

Tickets are personal and non-transferable. The official portal requires the original identity card or passport for access, not merely a photograph stored on a phone. Use the document details requested by the booking and bring the corresponding original document.

Keep the ticket throughout the visit because staff may ask for it and identification at controlled areas. A person can buy for companions, but the purchaser's details do not replace the visitor details on each personal ticket. Check each entry rather than only the lead traveller's name.

If a name or document detail is wrong, contact official purchase support before the visit. Do not assume that any ticket can simply be renamed. The current FAQ describes a limited process for bookings of at least five tickets, with permitted proportions, deadlines and restrictions after ticket-office or machine printing.

That group process is not a general right to transfer an individual booking to another person. If you expect passport details to change, resolve the question with the issuer before paying. A vague promise from a reseller does not override identity checks at the monument.

Children and reduced categories

Children under twelve have free admission but still require their own ticket. The official FAQ says tickets for children aged three to eleven must be reserved with the adult booking. Tickets for children under three are issued at ticket offices or access points without advance reservation under the stated rules.

The official helpful tips say children under twelve do not need their own identification document, while the accompanying guardian's document details and information must be entered for the child's ticket. Follow the specific fields and instructions rather than applying the adult document requirement indiscriminately.

For any reduced category, check the eligibility and evidence required for that particular reduction. The official FAQ says entitlement may need to be proved at the ticket office to obtain the final ticket. Allow time for that process; a discounted purchase alone does not prove eligibility.

For a family, choose a palace appointment compatible with the group's pace. A free child's ticket does not remove the need for checks, walking and breaks. Do not choose the last possible arrival simply because the child's admission has no charge.

Opening hours and night visits

The published daytime period is 08:30–18:00 from 15 October to 31 March and 08:30–20:00 from 1 April to 14 October. The complex closes on 25 December and 1 January. These overall hours do not replace the separate palace appointment.

The night visit to the Nasrid Palaces is published for Friday and Saturday, 20:00–21:30, in the winter period, and Tuesday to Saturday, 22:00–23:30, in the summer period. A night gardens product has its own availability and should not be assigned the palace calendar automatically.

Check the date-specific offer before choosing accommodation or a late transfer around a night visit. An evening entry and a daytime entry are distinct products; a daytime General ticket is not a night ticket simply because you remain nearby after sunset.

Keep the date of the visit visible alongside the hour. This is especially important with Experiences, whose daytime component is on the next day. A calendar reminder for only the night appointment can hide the second commitment.

Bags, children’s equipment and photography

Backpacks and bags larger than 40 × 40 cm are not permitted. Do not confuse an airline cabin-bag allowance with the monument's rule. A bag accepted on your flight may still be unsuitable here. Our carry-on packing guide is useful for the flight, while the Alhambra requires its own smaller-daybag decision.

The Patronato lists free storage on presentation of the day's official ticket at the access pavilion and the building beside the Wine Gate. Capacity is limited and service is available only while space remains. Do not make a tight palace appointment dependent on guaranteed storage for a large suitcase.

The current portal prohibits pushchairs in the Nasrid Palaces, Generalife Palace and Alcazaba, with designated storage for them. This is not the same as a blanket ban on wheelchair users: accessibility has separate arrangements. Ask about the needs of your party rather than treating all wheeled equipment alike.

Flash, selfie sticks and tripods are not permitted under the applicable photography rules. Prepare the camera settings before entering sensitive interiors and follow staff instructions. A simple photograph without extra equipment is easier to manage than carrying equipment you cannot use.

Give the palace visit room to breathe. In supported cities, RoadMe prepares a complete personal plan around your interests and preferred pace, so a fixed appointment does not turn the rest of the day into a rush.

Can you leave and come back?

The important limit is one entry to each controlled visitable area, not an absolute ban on leaving the entire complex. The official FAQ explicitly allows leaving and returning to continue with areas not yet visited, within their opening hours. Keep the ticket and protect the palace appointment.

If you have already used entry to a controlled area, do not assume you can enter that same area again. Ask staff before crossing an exit if the boundary is unclear. A break outside does not create a second palace entitlement or a later time slot.

This distinction prevents two opposite mistakes: unnecessarily abandoning a planned break, and assuming a general ticket grants unlimited repeat visits. Check which area's admission has been used and what remains available on that date.

Changes, refunds and problems

Once the purchase is confirmed, the date and time cannot be changed under the official FAQ. General ticket sales are final, with refunds limited to stated exceptions, including causes attributable to the Patronato and applicable legal cases. This is not a flexible reservation you can cancel because the weather or your transport plans changed.

The purchase policy also excludes refunding the management fee. If a relevant exception arises, contact official support with the booking details and evidence, rather than assuming an automatic full repayment. A third-party tour may have separate contractual conditions for its extra services; read both the product and admission rules.

If the confirmation does not arrive, check the contact details used and your email folders, then use official purchase support. Do not purchase again solely because one message is missing without establishing whether the first payment produced tickets. Keep the transaction record and booking reference.

Before you set off

Confirm the exact product, included areas, date and Nasrid appointment. Check every visitor's usable ticket, the required original identification, child arrangements and reduction evidence. Choose a small bag, allow time within the complex and keep the phone charged if using digital tickets.

The palace interiors reward attention to carved decoration, changing light and the relationship between rooms and courtyards. Administrative preparation should protect that attention. Once the correct ticket and appointment are settled, you can enjoy the visit without trying to solve missing access at the entrance.
