Sheremetyevo Airport to Moscow: train, bus and taxi options
To get from Sheremetyevo Airport to Moscow, compare the Aeroexpress train, the express bus to Khovrino metro station and a confirmed taxi or transfer. The useful choice starts with your arrival terminal and accommodation address. At night, a daytime train connection may no longer work; the city night bus H1 serves Terminal B, but it is not a direct ride to every hotel.
Information checked on 26 October 2026. Prices below are the operator's website and app fares, not a promise about every sales channel. Check the service for your travel date after allowing for arrival procedures and baggage. This guide explains the airport transfer, not a sightseeing itinerary or a complete Moscow transport-card manual.
Choose by terminal, address and arrival time
| Option | Useful connection | What to check first |
|---|---|---|
| Aeroexpress train | Airport rail platforms in the northern B/C and southern D/E/F complexes | Your terminal, actual departure and useful city stop |
| Express bus 1195 | From Terminal B to Khovrino | Actual boarding point and onward metro journey |
| Express bus 1195D | Terminal D to Khovrino | The D service, not a bus chosen solely by brand |
| City night bus H1 | Terminal B to Kitay-gorod with intermediate stops | Night timetable and the remaining journey |
| Taxi or reserved transfer | The accommodation's actual entrance | Confirmed price, pickup, payment and vehicle capacity |
The terminal is not a minor detail. Advice written for B does not automatically describe D, and an airport complex designation does not mean every letter is currently handling passenger flights. Use the terminal shown for your flight and the current instructions on arrival.
For the city days after arrival, try RoadMe: in supported cities, the app develops a complete personal trip plan around your interests, dates and pace. It is easier to organise sightseeing in the app when the transfer and time to recover already have realistic space.
Save the full accommodation address, nearest useful station and entrance instructions before flying. A central landmark is rarely the best substitute for the door you need. Compare walking with your luggage, changes and late check-in, rather than choosing a service because its advertisement says “to Moscow”.
Aeroexpress: find the useful city stop
The railway serves airport platform complexes on both sides of Sheremetyevo: the northern B/C area and the southern D/E/F area. Follow the current signs for your terminal's railway access. There is no reason to travel to the other airport complex merely because an old guide describes only that railway entrance.
The current route includes city stops such as Lianozovo, Okruzhnaya, Savelovsky and Belorussky. Belorussky remains a familiar connection, but it is not automatically the best exit for every visitor. Compare the stop with your address and onward transport on the actual departure you intend to use.
Do not assume the modern service is always the old non-stop train described in older airport guides. Intermediate stops and the wider route matter when calculating arrival. Check the current timetable rather than adding one remembered rail journey duration to every flight.
Allow for the walk from arrivals, ticket arrangements and platform access. The time printed for the rail journey is not the total airport-to-room time. A quick train followed by awkward changes and a long luggage walk can be less convenient than another usable connection.

Train tickets: standard and advance are different offers
The checked online/app Standard fare is RUB 700 for one journey. The Standard Advance offer is RUB 650 and requires purchase at least one day before travel under the operator's conditions. Do not treat the lower amount as the automatic price available when you have just landed.
Both described Standard products have unassigned seating and a stated 90-day validity window from the date selected when purchasing. That flexibility is not the same as a reserved place on a particular departure. Read the actual product selected before paying, especially if your flight date changes.
Prices in ticket offices, machines, at gates or through other channels can differ from the website and app. Compare the same purchase channel and product. A search snippet, an old screenshot and a current checkout are not interchangeable evidence of what you will pay.
| Checked website/app product | Amount | Important condition |
|---|---|---|
| Train Standard | RUB 700 | One journey; unassigned seat |
| Train Standard Advance | RUB 650 | Advance purchase condition applies |
| Airport express bus | RUB 450 | One journey on the selected date; unassigned seat |
These are airport-service fares. Do not assume a metro journey or a further city bus is included. For a family or group, check the actual passenger conditions instead of multiplying an advertisement's “from” price. Keep any relevant age documents available when using a child entitlement.
1195 and 1195D: the bus must match the terminal
Aeroexpress also operates express buses to Khovrino. A ticket or sign carrying the same brand does not mean that you are boarding the train. The bus is a road connection to a metro station; the rest of the journey through Moscow must still be planned.
The current detailed route information distinguishes 1195 from Terminal B and 1195D from Terminal D. For 1195 toward the airport, the operator describes a stop at C before B. Do not reverse that statement into an assumption that every arrival passenger can board the city-bound service at C in the same way.
If you arrive at C, consult the current airport and operator instructions for reaching the appropriate departure point. It is better to settle that short airport-side connection inside arrivals than to wait beside an assumed curb. This article does not invent an exit number or a terminal walking map.
The airport-bound and city-bound stops are not necessarily symmetric. For 1195 from B, the operator also describes a Gostinitsa stop before Khovrino. Use the actual direction shown in the route information; a return journey is not always the outward instructions read backwards.
Khovrino is a connection, not the final city destination
The express bus reaches Khovrino metro station. The advertised road-leg time is not the time to a central hotel. Add waiting, traffic, entering the metro, buying the appropriate onward ticket and the final walk. Check current service information when the flight is late.
Bus can be a sensible comparison when the Khovrino connection fits your address. Train can be attractive when its actual city stops fit better or you prefer the railway leg. Neither wins every comparison without considering the accommodation and the luggage you are carrying.
With several passengers, keep the group together while changing modes. Agree on the destination station before boarding and keep the address with more than one person. A child or tired companion should not have to work out the remaining journey at each change.
If you need assistance or a step-free connection, verify the complete path with the operator and accommodation. A vehicle being accessible does not prove that every station exit or final pavement suits your needs. Choose a workable end-to-end arrangement rather than relying on a general icon.
Count the complete cost
For public transport, add the airport product, any separately charged city journey and relevant extras. For a car, confirm whether the quote covers the vehicle, passengers, luggage and waiting. A per-person rail fare and a per-car transfer quote require the same group assumptions.
Our guide to travel budgeting and easily forgotten expenses helps put these items in one comparison. The lowest first fare may not remain lowest if an unsuitable arrival time forces another taxi after the public-transport leg.
Do not buy a return product simply because its average one-way amount looks better. Consider the departure airport, dates, terminal and product validity. A cheaper return that does not match the way home is not a saving you can use.
Keep the ticket and receipt available outside an inbox search. A downloaded confirmation is useful when mobile internet is uncertain. Do not publish or share a usable ticket code while asking for help; show staff the actual ticket through the operator's normal process.

After a late flight, check a complete connection
The flight's landing time is not the time you can board a city service. Arrival formalities, baggage collection and walking to the departure point come first. Check the service that you can realistically reach, then the onward metro and the accommodation's entry arrangements.
A train or express bus still running does not guarantee that the metro connection you need remains available. Work backwards from the last useful onward departure and include walking and waiting. Do not confuse a station being open with every required train still operating.
The city night network includes H1, written н1 in Russian, between Terminal B and Kitay-gorod. It has intermediate stops and is a different service from the Aeroexpress buses. Its existence does not provide an all-terminal, all-hotel airport express.
Check the current H1 timetable, the exact B boarding point and the stop appropriate for your onward journey. If you arrive elsewhere, establish how you will reach B before relying on it. A stop named after a metro station does not make the metro operate through the night.
Taxi: use a confirmed order
The airport lists Yandex Go ordering desks in B, C and D. Use the current airport service information and signs to find the desk for your terminal. Do not choose a driver solely because someone approaches you outside arrivals and offers an immediate ride.
Confirm the full address, vehicle category, passenger count, luggage and any child-seat requirement before accepting. Check the quoted payment method and pickup instructions. An airport desk booking, an app order and a pre-arranged driver can have different meeting procedures.
There is no single honest taxi price for every destination and arrival. Distance, traffic, demand and the selected vehicle affect the quote. Recheck a live order rather than relying on an old article's fixed city-centre amount, and confirm relevant waiting or extra-service conditions.
Before getting in, compare the vehicle and driver information with the confirmed order. If instructions change, resolve them through the service used to book. Save the accommodation name in addition to its address, particularly where several buildings or entrances share a courtyard.
Reserved transfer and payment preparation
For a pre-booked transfer, agree how the driver will meet you, what happens after a delayed flight and how much waiting is included. Give the correct terminal and flight details, then use the provider's process if either changes. The word “transfer” alone does not promise unlimited waiting.
International visitors should settle a usable payment method before arrival. Visa and Mastercard cards issued outside Russia do not work for ordinary Russian shop and ATM transactions under current official travel-money guidance. Do not assume a contactless symbol guarantees acceptance of your particular card.
Check how you can actually pay for the airport service and the onward journey. Avoid relying on one untested foreign card or on finding a particular kiosk open after every flight. Payment preparation is separate from nationality: travellers with different banks can face different practical options.
For the final door, our guide to late-night arrival, transfers and accommodation access explains the arrangements beyond transport. Getting to the building is not enough if reception is closed and the entrance instructions are still in an unread message.

Avoid an unnecessary change of airport complex
Older guides often describe a free underground inter-terminal train as if it were a permanent, guaranteed connection. Official pages contain dated and conflicting descriptions. Do not base your arrival on that assumption; check the current airport transfer instructions for the precise terminals involved.
For the city journey, first look for the rail or road service appropriate to the complex where you actually arrive. Crossing to the other side just to follow an old guide can add work without improving the route. If a transfer is necessary, allow time for the current method and any separate conditions.
A terminal plan is useful only when it is current and matches the direction of travel. Follow official signs on the day. A decorative diagram or a recollection of the airport before redevelopment cannot substitute for the actual passenger path.
Before leaving arrivals
- Confirm the arrival terminal and complete accommodation address.
- Compare the actual rail stop with the Khovrino bus-and-metro connection.
- Check the ticket product, purchase conditions and separate onward fares.
- Allow for baggage, walking and the last useful connection after a late flight.
- If choosing a car, confirm price, payment, luggage and pickup before leaving the terminal.
Leave some recovery time after a long journey. A workable transfer should preserve the first city day rather than turn it into a race. With an early appointment or onward train, use the exact destination and enough margin; this guide does not create a protected connection between independently booked services.
Once arrival is arranged, let RoadMe develop a complete personal city programme around your interests and comfortable pace where supported. Using a coherent plan in the app is more convenient than squeezing unrelated places into a day already shortened by travel.
The right Sheremetyevo transfer gets your actual group from the correct terminal to the correct entrance. Compare the whole journey, keep fare conditions visible and use current terminal instructions instead of assuming that every airport service follows the same path.
