Sanya Airport transfers: city centre, Dadonghai and Yalong Bay

Traveller choosing a transfer with a suitcase and umbrella

The right transfer from Sanya Phoenix Airport depends on your hotel’s bay, not simply on the word “Sanya” in the booking. Airport Bus Line 1 serves Sanya Bay, central stops, Dadonghai and the Yalong Bay hotel area. Line 2 goes towards Haitang Bay. A taxi, an app-booked car or a confirmed hotel transfer can be easier with luggage, while the airport railway is useful only when its complete connection fits your address.

The airport’s current route information differs from older guides describing three shuttle lines and a separate Line 3 to Yalong Bay. This guide uses airport and tourism-board information checked in October 2026. Confirm the exact stop, departure and pickup coverage for your date before buying.

Choose the bay and hotel entrance first

Make the arrival part of a trip that fits you: RoadMe can build a personal plan around your interests and pace in supported destinations. In the app, it is easier to balance places to discover with a comfortable first day after the flight.

Save the property’s full name and Chinese address, the bay and a telephone number. A resort name can resemble another branch, and a search for a beach is not the same as a search for the hotel entrance. Ask the accommodation which entrance a driver should use and which bus stop is genuinely convenient with bags.

Keep these names distinct: Sanya Bay is 三亚湾, Dadonghai is 大东海, Yalong Bay is 亚龙湾 and Haitang Bay is 海棠湾. They are different areas, not interchangeable ways of saying the city centre. A bus going to one bay should not be assumed to continue to another.

Your accommodation areaPublic airport option to examineWhat needs checking
Sanya BayLine 1 stops along its actual routeDistance from the stop to the specific hotel
Central SanyaLine 1 central stopsThe exact address rather than a general centre label
DadonghaiLine 1 via DadonghaiDrop-off and last walk
Yalong BayLine 1 hotel-area coverageWhether your hotel is within the actual pickup or drop-off range
Haitang BayLine 2Its separate operating hours and final connection

This is a transfer comparison, not a sightseeing route. Choose the accommodation connection first; the order in which a bus passes different districts does not mean you should visit them all on arrival.

Airport Bus Line 1: city, Dadonghai and Yalong Bay

The current airport list places Line 1 through selected Sanya Bay stops, including the Howard Johnson resort area and Haiyue Square, then central stops including the bus terminal, before Dadonghai and onward towards Yalong Bay hotels. You do not need to ride to the final bay if your accommodation is earlier on the route.

The published boarding point is the first floor of Block C of the commercial complex, opposite Gate 5 of the domestic arrivals hall. That wording describes the domestic-arrivals side. If you arrive at another terminal or through international arrivals, follow current signs or ask the airport desk for the connection rather than assuming the same door is immediately outside.

The airport lists eighteen Line 1 departures: hourly from 09:00 through midnight, then 01:00 and 02:00, with 02:00 marked as the last departure. Check the actual service in the Haiqixing booking information, written 海汽行. The airport explicitly makes the final stops, departures and coverage subject to that booking page.

For a coach, the fare is distance-based, with a published maximum of CNY 25 per adult and CNY 12.5 per child. That is a ceiling, not evidence that every short ride costs CNY 25. The seven-seat business-van option has a maximum of CNY 30 per person on Line 1; it is not automatically a private car for your group.

Before paying, show the hotel address and establish the exact place you will leave the vehicle. “Various hotels in Yalong Bay” is not a guarantee that every property, villa or side-road guesthouse receives door-to-door service. A final short car journey can change both convenience and the total cost.

Line 2 is for Haitang Bay, not a second route to Dadonghai

The current Line 2 runs towards Haitang Bay, with listed places including the 301 Hospital, hotel-area stops, Haichang Fantasy Town and Sanya International Duty-Free City. If your accommodation is in Dadonghai or Yalong Bay, do not choose it merely because the vehicle is an airport bus.

The airport currently publishes thirteen daily departures, hourly from 10:00 to 22:00. Some older summaries show fewer departures. Use the actual service for your date, and do not extend Line 1’s 02:00 last departure to Line 2.

The coach fare is also tiered, up to CNY 25 per adult and CNY 12.5 per child. The seven-seat business-van option has a published maximum of CNY 35 per person. Confirm the vehicle and destination when comparing prices: a per-person van fare is not the same product as a quote for the whole vehicle.

Even where the route suits the bay, compare the next departure with a direct car and any hotel service. Waiting for a bus can be reasonable for one traveller; it may feel less useful for a tired family with several bags. Count everyone and the final hotel approach.

City buses: use current route numbers and destinations

Ordinary city buses are separate from the airport coaches. The airport’s current public-bus page lists routes 124 and 127 to the Yalong Bay bus hub, 108 and 136 towards Hongsha, route 33 towards Nantian, and routes 409 and 425 serving Sanya Railway Station via the airport. Do not treat an old list of routes 8 or 27 as the current airport instructions.

The listed public-bus boarding area is on the first floor of Car Park 2, opposite Gate 5 of domestic arrivals, with signs along the approach. It is distinct from choosing an airport-coach ticket at Block C. Confirm the line and direction before boarding a vehicle that happens to stop nearby.

The airport directs passengers to stop information and the Chelaile real-time bus service for specific departures, routes and intermediate stops. It does not publish a full current fare and first-to-last timetable for each airport line on that page. Check the particular journey instead of applying the general city operating period to every service.

The Yalong Bay bus hub is a transport destination, not the front door of every beach resort. Check whether another bus or car is needed from there. A cheap first stage can be a poor choice when it leaves an inconvenient walk with cases and children.

For city-bus payment, the tourism board lists the Sanya Tianya travel code through Alipay or WeChat and cash, with exact change recommended. A transport code must be usable before you rely on it. Do not assume that a bank-card logo means a physical foreign card can be tapped on every local bus.

The airport train: useful only with a complete onward connection

The airport has a station called Fenghuangjichang, 凤凰机场, on the Hainan Ring High-Speed Railway. The official airport information connects it with the terminal drop-off platform and locates its main entrance west of T1. If you arrive elsewhere in the airport complex, ask for the current route to the station.

On the airport’s Western Ring station list, Sanya Station follows Fenghuangjichang. Yalong Bay Station appears on the Eastern Ring list. These names should not be treated as beach addresses or as proof that the next train provides a direct connection to the hotel you want.

Search the actual journey, date and stopping pattern in railway information or 12306. Check the departure station carefully: Phoenix Airport station is not Sanya Station. A ticket for one is not automatically an instruction to wait at the other, even though both serve the Sanya area.

Rail can make sense for an onward island journey or accommodation with a practical station connection. For a local resort transfer, include ticketing, waiting, the station walk and the final bus or taxi. This guide does not invent a short-hop fare, last train or guaranteed journey time that the airport page does not provide.

Official taxi: pay for the real destination

For a metered taxi, use the designated waiting area. The airport’s Chinese guidance places the T1/T2 taxi queue opposite T1 arrivals doors 4–5 on the first floor, and the T3 queue outside arrivals door 01. Follow current signs, particularly if you have come through a different arrival area.

The airport publishes different meter categories and distance bands. A starting fare is only the first part of the journey, not the cost from the airport to Yalong Bay. The resort address, traffic and applicable tariff matter, so this guide does not convert a guessed citywide taxi total into a price promise.

The tourism board states a 20% night service surcharge from 23:00 to 06:00. Check the actual taxi category and fare arrangement before comparing a late-night ride with a daytime example. A private transfer quote and a metered taxi are different products.

Show the destination in Chinese, confirm the hotel entrance and ask for the receipt at the end. Keep the vehicle details if needed. An approach inside the terminal is not a reason to abandon the official queue without understanding which service you are buying.

For a group, check passenger and luggage capacity. A vehicle with enough seats may not fit all the suitcases. If you need a larger car, compare its actual total rather than dividing an assumed standard-taxi fare among the group.

Ride-hailing and hotel transfers: confirm the meeting point

For an app-booked car, place the order through the service, confirm the vehicle and go to its assigned pickup point. Do not assume that the taxi rank is also the app pickup location. Keep a working connection and enough phone battery to contact the driver if necessary.

The airport publishes separate shuttle arrangements for T3, including a link with a temporary ride-hailing parking point. That is a reason to check the current app and airport directions, not to improvise a walk to an old parking location. The shuttle page does not establish a universal free, twenty-four-hour service.

Some hotels offer complimentary shuttle transport, according to the tourism board. Ask your specific property whether it serves the airport, your flight time and your reservation, whether booking is required and how luggage is handled. A hotel’s city shuttle or an advertisement saying “shuttle available” is not proof of free airport pickup for every guest.

For a confirmed private transfer, keep the written total, terminal, flight details, meeting point, waiting policy and contact method together. Establish what happens if immigration or baggage takes longer than expected. A driver’s name without an agreed meeting process is not a complete arrival plan.

Payment: prepare the method before reaching the vehicle

The tourism board describes selected orange taxis displaying the Hainan Trusted Pay logo as part of an international-card and NFC payment pilot. This is useful where available, but it is not a statement that every taxi accepts every foreign card. Check the actual vehicle and your card’s ability to make the transaction.

For an app ride, confirm that your account and selected payment method work before relying on them after landing. A saved payment card, a local transport QR code and a bank-card tap are different mechanisms. One successful purchase elsewhere does not establish acceptance for the next transfer.

Keep a practical fallback and compare prices on the same basis: per person or per vehicle, exact hotel or general bay, luggage included or extra, daytime or night. Our guide to building a travel budget and including easy-to-miss costs applies the same approach to the rest of the trip.

Late arrivals: a published last bus is not a flight guarantee

Line 1’s listed 02:00 departure is useful information, but it does not mean every delayed flight will be met indefinitely. Landing, entry procedures where applicable, baggage and the walk to the departure point come before boarding. Confirm the last usable service and prepare a car alternative if the timing is uncertain.

For Line 2, use its separate 22:00 published endpoint, not Line 1’s later hours. For a city bus or train, check the specific departure rather than assuming the airport’s round-the-clock operation applies to it.

Tell the accommodation if you may arrive late and confirm how to enter. A transfer to the right bay is not the end of the task if the reception or entrance arrangements need advance notice. Our guide to late-night arrivals, transfers and check-in helps prepare that last step.

Leave the arrival day room to breathe with RoadMe: the app can work out a personal trip plan around your interests and pace. It is easier to enjoy the following days when the first evening is planned around settling in comfortably.

A quick decision for your bay

Central Sanya, Sanya Bay or Dadonghai. Compare Line 1’s actual stop with a direct car. Include the next departure and the final walk; do not ride to Yalong Bay simply because it is the line’s advertised endpoint.

Yalong Bay resort. Confirm whether Line 1 serves your property or a useful nearby point, then compare the total for everyone with a taxi or confirmed hotel service. The bay’s name alone does not establish door-to-door coverage.

Haitang Bay. Examine Line 2 separately, especially its earlier last departure. Do not confuse it with Yalong Bay. If the timing or hotel coverage does not fit, price the direct vehicle you actually need.

Before leaving arrivals, have the hotel address, terminal connection, next usable service, payment and fallback clear. That makes the journey from Phoenix Airport a manageable practical choice rather than a guess based on a broad resort name.
