Bali Tourist Levy: How to Pay and Keep Your Confirmation
The Bali tourist levy is IDR 150,000 per foreign tourist. Pay through the official Love Bali system or an authorised payment point, then keep the individual levy voucher with its QR code. It is a separate provincial charge, not your Indonesian visa payment, arrival declaration or an admission ticket to every attraction.
The important result is not simply money leaving your account: you need usable proof associated with the correct traveller. This guide explains preparation, payment and confirmation using conditions checked on 27 October 2026. It does not claim to have submitted a traveller's application or tested a live payment.
Know which payment you are making
Let RoadMe develop a personal travel plan around your interests and preferred pace in supported destinations. Organising the whole journey in the app is more convenient than collecting scattered suggestions, leaving official arrival payments as separate practical tasks you can complete deliberately.
The levy is intended to support Bali's cultural and environmental protection. It is a provincial visitor charge, so do not treat it as a visa or permission to enter Indonesia. Paying one requirement does not automatically complete the others that apply to your passport and circumstances.
Likewise, a levy voucher is not a ticket to temples, museums or other paid places. If an attraction has its own admission, check that separately. The fact that a levy can be checked during a visit does not turn it into an all-attractions pass.
Accommodation charges are another category. A hotel invoice, deposit or local fee shown on a booking is not itself proof that the Love Bali levy has been paid. If an agent says it is included, ask for the actual individual voucher rather than relying on a general package description.
Our guide to accommodation extra charges, deposits and tourist taxes helps separate these items. Keep the provincial levy, your room bill and any refundable deposit on different lines, because they have different purposes and evidence.
| Document or payment | What it concerns | What it does not replace |
|---|---|---|
| Love Bali levy voucher | The provincial foreign-tourist levy | Visa and national entry requirements |
| Visa confirmation, if required | The relevant immigration permission | The separate Bali levy |
| Accommodation invoice | The booked lodging product | An individual levy voucher |
| Attraction ticket | The named place and admission conditions | All other charges during the trip |
Amount, children and a family budget
The published amount is IDR 150,000 per foreign tourist, including children unless a separate qualifying exemption applies. It is not a fee for one room, one family or one payment card. A family of four foreign tourists without an exemption should therefore plan IDR 600,000 for the levy itself.
That family total is a calculation from four individual charges, not a special family tariff. Each person's payment or exemption needs to be clear. Do not assume a child's place on a hotel booking removes the obligation, or that the adult's voucher covers everyone travelling together.
Any bank conversion or applicable payment-processing charge is a separate question from the statutory levy amount. Inspect the final payment screen and your bank's conditions. A large intermediary service fee should not be confused with an increase in the provincial rate.
Compare the item being sold before using an agent. Some services may bundle assistance with other travel products, but the provincial levy and an optional service are still different components. You should be able to identify what was paid to the official system and what was charged for assistance.
Who may be exempt?
Published exemption categories include diplomatic and official visa holders, transport crew, KITAS or KITAP holders, family-unification and student visa holders, and certain other qualifying categories. Do not infer exemption from simply calling the visit business, study or a long stay: the actual immigration document and applicable category matter.
Golden-visa and other qualifying visa cases use the Love Bali exemption application route. The published guidance calls for submission at least five days before arrival in Bali. Check the current requirements for your status and keep the resulting approval where applicable.
An application is not the same as an approval. If you need to provide additional information, follow the official response rather than treating the initial submission as a completed exemption. An ordinary tourist visa or visa-on-arrival payment is not, by itself, proof that you are exempt.
For categories documented through a card or status evidence, prepare the actual proof requested. Do not generalise the application procedure for one category to every traveller. If your situation is unusual, resolve it with the official service before relying on exemption during the visit.

Choose the official payment channel
Love Bali is the Bali Provincial Government's official payment system for the levy. Identify the government-operated service rather than choosing solely from an advertisement, a similar-looking name or a seller's claim to provide compulsory registration.
Online payment before departure is encouraged because it leaves less to arrange on arrival. The official guidance also provides payment through designated arrival counters and registered endpoints such as participating hotels, travel agents or attractions. Not every accommodation reception is automatically an authorised endpoint.
If paying through another organisation, confirm that it processes the levy through Love Bali and will provide the traveller's official voucher. A general receipt for handing money to an intermediary is not the same evidence. Ask how the completed voucher will reach each person.
Do not depend on an invented counter position or a promise that every domestic arrivals area has the same facilities. If you cannot pay beforehand, check the current official arrangement for your actual arrival. Prefer a confirmed channel over searching for someone who says they can collect it informally.
Prepare the traveller details before paying
Have the correct passport information, traveller name, planned arrival details and an accessible email address ready. Enter the information requested by the actual form. This guide describes the preparation rather than claiming that current buttons and fields always appear in one fixed layout.
Check the name and passport number against the actual document before submitting. Do not copy from memory or assume two companions have similar details. A payment can be completed while the data still need correction, so accurate entry is worth a short pause.
Use an email account that you can open during the trip. If a companion or agent enters their address, agree how the voucher will be passed to you. Knowing that someone else received a message is less useful than holding your own accessible confirmation.
For a family or group, keep a simple list of travellers and mark whose voucher has arrived. A shared payment arrangement does not remove the need to identify every person. Check the actual confirmations instead of judging completion only from the size of one bank transaction.
Payment methods: acceptance and your own card are different
The official guidance lists electronic methods including major card networks, bank transfer, virtual account and QRIS. These are available payment categories, not a guarantee that every bank, account or foreign-issued card can use every method.
Check the methods actually offered by the live service and supported by your payment provider. A domestic transfer or local payment code may require an account you do not have. Choose a route you can complete rather than beginning a process merely because its name appears in a list.
Review the amount and currency before confirming. If a bank requires its own verification, complete it through the bank's genuine process. Do not send authentication codes or a copy of payment credentials to an unrelated person offering to fix the purchase.
The levy is cashless. An informal cash collection without the official system and voucher is not the payment process described here. If an arrival or registered endpoint helps you, make sure the official payment and proof are part of that assistance.

After payment, keep the QR voucher
The Love Bali confirmation is a levy voucher with a QR code sent to the email entered in the system. Check that it belongs to the intended traveller. A bank notification shows a financial event, while the voucher is the evidence intended for levy verification.
Save the email and a readable copy of the voucher on your phone. Open that copy while you still have a working connection to make sure it is usable. Do not rely only on a link you have never opened, especially when you may need to show the proof without convenient mobile data.
If several people travel together, keep each confirmation identifiable. Avoid a collection of unnamed screenshots in which nobody knows whose code is whose. Each traveller should understand where their own evidence is stored, even if one person organised the payment.
You can retain an additional backup appropriate to your travel habits. The important point is readability and availability, not a decorative recreation of the document. Do not redraw the QR code, alter its contents or substitute a mock receipt for the original proof.
Money was charged but an error appeared
Do not immediately repeat the payment. Official consular guidance warns that a system error can appear even when a card has already been charged; pressing submit again can cause another charge. First establish what happened to the original attempt.
Check the entered email, including unwanted-message folders, and the relevant transaction information. Keep the error screen, payment reference if provided and the time of the attempt. These details help the official service locate the issue without requiring you to reconstruct it later.
Use the official Love Bali support route to clarify the payment or missing voucher. Do not assume a bank charge alone proves that every traveller's confirmation was issued, but do not assume an error means nothing was paid either. Those are different possibilities that need resolution.
If the email arrived but the voucher or QR copy will not open, retain that message and the error details for support. This guide does not promise an automatic refund, a fixed response time or that a particular screenshot will always be accepted as a substitute. Seek the actual confirmation and follow official instructions.
How often do you pay, including trips within Indonesia?
The official FAQ describes one payment during the trip before leaving Indonesian territory. Do not treat every movement between Indonesian destinations as an automatic new levy. Keep proof of the original payment and relevant journey details if returning to Bali during the same continuous Indonesian visit.
Arriving in Bali from another part of Indonesia does not make an unpaid foreign tourist exempt. A domestic flight changes the arrival route, not the nature of this provincial obligation. Arrange the levy rather than assuming it applies only to direct international flights.
Leaving Indonesia and returning for another visit is a different situation from travelling internally. Check the current rules for that new visit instead of treating an old voucher as a lifetime pass. This guide does not invent a universal one-year or sixty-day validity rule.
For unusual entry or transit circumstances, obtain an official answer for the actual journey. A general tourist guide should not turn an uncertain edge case into a promise. The ordinary visitor can avoid most confusion by identifying the trip, retaining the voucher and separating internal travel from departure abroad.
With RoadMe, the app can develop a personal plan for your whole trip around your interests and pace. It is more convenient to organise meaningful experiences together than to rebuild each day from scattered ideas after handling the arrival formalities.

A practical completion check
Before departure, confirm the applicable payment or exemption, the official channel and the traveller details. After payment, check the individual voucher and save a readable copy. If a charge and an error appear together, clarify the first attempt before making another payment.
Our guide to planning a travel budget with easily missed costs helps place the levy alongside the rest of the trip. Keep it as a separate item with its own evidence, rather than expecting a visa receipt or hotel invoice to cover it.
Levy verification may take place beyond the airport, so retain the proof during the visit. Not being asked once does not remove the obligation. The useful outcome is straightforward: the correct person is covered, the official payment or exemption is established, and the evidence is ready when needed.
