Antalya Airport to the City: Tram, Bus and Taxi

Traveller considering onward transport outside an airport

Antalya Airport serves both the city and a long stretch of holiday coast. Those are different destinations. A tram into central Antalya may be a practical choice for a hotel near Kaleiçi, while a beachfront property advertised as “Antalya” may require a substantial onward journey. Start with the accommodation's exact address and your actual terminal, then choose transport.

This guide compares AntRay, city buses, taxis and booked transfers. The transport information was researched on 25–26 October 2026; the published payment figures below were observed on 25 October. Departure times and boarding positions should be checked for the day of travel rather than copied from an old airport guide.

Which transport should you choose after landing?

For central Antalya near the tram corridor, consider AntRay's airport branch, commonly labelled T1A. Its airport stop serves the Terminal 1/domestic-terminal complex; passengers at Terminal 2 need an additional connection. City buses are useful when their actual route suits your hotel: 600 towards the Otogar bus station, 800 through the Lara side towards Meydan, and 400 towards Konyaaltı and Sarısu. A taxi or an agreed transfer can be more convenient with late arrivals, several bags or a destination away from those routes.

Once the arrival journey is settled, make the rest of the trip easier too. In supported cities, RoadMe creates a complete personalised trip or day plan around your interests and pace, so you can organise your time in the app without piecing every visit together yourself.

First find your terminal and the correct starting point

The airport distinguishes Terminal 1, the domestic terminal and Terminal 2. Terminal 1 and the domestic building are interconnected, with separate entrances. Terminal 2 is a separate complex; the airport describes approximately 2.5 km between the international terminal areas. That is not a short indoor connection to treat casually with luggage.

Check your flight's current terminal on the airport board and the airline's information. An airline name or an old account of a previous visit does not establish today's arrival or departure terminal. For the return journey, give the driver the flight and terminal as well as the word airport.

The airport advertises a free shuttle in both directions between the domestic/Terminal 1 complex and Terminal 2, with stops in front of the departures areas. Its published interval is 20 minutes. Allow time to locate the boarding point and wait; that interval is not the total connection time and does not promise an immediate bus after every delayed flight.

If you arrive at Terminal 2 and want the tram, first follow the current airport signs for the terminal shuttle or ask the information desk. Do not follow an improvised shortcut across access roads. Temporary works can change the pedestrian approach and city-bus boarding position, so a precise turn-by-turn instruction copied months earlier is less useful than the current signs.

AntRay tram: useful for the centre and the bus station

The airport branch links Havalimanı with Meydan, the central corridor and the Otogar before continuing towards Fatih. For accommodation near Kaleiçi, İsmetpaşa is a useful stop to examine on the map. It does not mean that every old-town hotel is next to the platform: check the actual walk to your entrance.

On the return trip, choose a service showing the airport destination, Havalimanı. The airport branch and the Expo branch share part of the network. Boarding a tram merely because its route begins along the right corridor can take you towards Expo instead of your terminal.

Check the departure for the correct direction and day through the operator's timetable or Antalyakart information. Do not infer an all-night service from a flight arriving after midnight. Last departures, temporary interruptions and the first morning journey matter more than a generic claim that trams run frequently.

City buses 600, 800 and 400: choose by destination

Service to investigateMain purposeCheck before boarding
AntRay airport branchCentral tram corridor and OtogarTerminal connection and final hotel walk
600Airport–Otogar connectionDirection, actual city stop and next departure
800Lara-side city districts towards MeydanExact hotel address; not every Lara/Kundu resort
400Konyaaltı–Sarısu sideNearest useful stop and remaining walk
Taxi or booked transferMore direct travel to the agreed destinationTotal price basis, payment, vehicle and pickup

The 600 is principally worth checking for the bus station, rather than assuming it is the ideal bus for every central hotel. The 800 serves the Lara-side urban corridor towards Meydan; the word Lara in an accommodation listing does not prove that the bus passes its entrance. The 400 is a separate option for the western Konyaaltı–Sarısu direction.

Current timetable guides identify Terminal 2 as an important city-bound starting point. Confirm the stop and direction in Antalyakart and with the airport's signs, especially at Terminal 1 or the domestic building. A stop used by a bus arriving at the airport does not automatically offer the same vehicle heading out towards town.

Check the waiting time before committing. A long wait followed by an indirect ride may outweigh a cheap fare, particularly when tired or travelling with children. For an onward intercity bus, leave room for the airport journey, finding the correct part of Otogar and boarding the next service.

Some planning tools show a 600G service for the Otogar connection outside ordinary daytime patterns. Treat it as a departure to verify for your exact date and direction, not as evidence of a frequent round-the-clock airport bus. This guide deliberately does not promise a last bus or a night interval that may change.

Antalyakart and contactless payment

Antalyakart is the city's transport payment system. Its published general full fare observed on 25 October 2026 was TRY 42 with the transport card, compared with TRY 50 for contactless bank-card boarding. A regular physical full-fare card was listed at TRY 100 before adding travel balance. These are the operator's general payment figures, not a promise that every airport or regional service has identical fare conditions.

Check the applicable route charge before boarding. The carrier purchase and the money available for journeys are separate costs. For a short visit, buying a card solely to obtain a lower single-boarding fare may not save money after including the card itself. For repeated city travel, the comparison may change.

Contactless payment is supported by the system, but that does not guarantee acceptance of every foreign-issued card. Your issuer, card network, international-use settings and available balance still matter. A contactless symbol on the plastic is not proof that it will work abroad. Prepare an alternative that is actually usable for your circumstances.

The operator states that bank-card boardings do not receive its transfer entitlement or fare reductions. Do not assume a change from an airport bus to another vehicle is free. Transport-card transfer rules also have timing and route exceptions; an airport or terminal service should not be treated as an ordinary eligible connection without checking.

Keep the chosen payment medium accessible and wait for the reader's confirmation. A top-up receipt alone is not evidence that the next journey has been validated. For the wider distinction between purchase, activation and travel, see our guide to public transport tickets and validation abroad.

Getting cash without turning a small fare into a costly exchange

Do not rely on handing banknotes to a city-bus driver or a tram operator. Arrange a supported ticket or payment method before entering the vehicle or paid area. Where you buy or top up a card, inspect the available payment methods at that particular machine or sales point rather than assuming all locations work identically.

If you need local cash for a taxi, card purchase or immediate expenses, compare the net amount of Turkish lira received after charges. Keep the arrival requirement separate from the entire holiday budget. A convenient airport exchange may solve an immediate need, but its convenience does not establish the best overall rate.

Our guide to comparing currency exchange rates and fees explains how to compare the same starting budget. For a card payment, check the displayed currency and conversion terms; the transport operator's fare and your bank's final account debit can be different figures.

Taxi: agree on the actual destination and payment basis

The airport identifies taxi stands outside the arrivals exits of its terminals. It also describes airport identification tags for drivers and a fare signboard near the rank. Use that organised departure point rather than assuming anyone offering a ride inside the building represents the official stand.

Show the accommodation's full address before setting off. Establish whether the quoted amount is an estimate based on the meter or a confirmed fare for the agreed journey, and clarify the currency, payment method and any stated extra charges. A price mentioned for central Antalya is not a price for Side or Alanya.

Do not budget from an old fixed taxi figure in a travel article. Distance, traffic, the precise property and current tariff affect the journey. This guide does not present an unverified airport-to-hotel price as an official fixed fare. If a particular payment method is essential, confirm it before the luggage goes into the boot.

For several travellers, compare the vehicle total with all public-transport fares, card costs and final connections. Check that the vehicle can carry the passengers and their bags. Request an appropriate child restraint when needed; the mere word taxi or transfer does not guarantee one is waiting in every vehicle.

Booked transfer or Havaş: read the actual service conditions

A pre-arranged transfer can reduce uncertainty when your hotel is far from city transport or arrival is late. Confirm the pickup terminal, meeting point, flight monitoring, waiting allowance and what happens after a delay. Keep the operator's contact details available without depending entirely on a fresh mobile-data connection.

Check whether the booking is a private vehicle or a shared shuttle with other hotel stops. Those are different services, even if both use the word transfer. Confirm whether the price is per person or per vehicle and whether the destination is the accommodation entrance or a nearby meeting point.

If your package already includes transport, read the voucher and locate the named representative before buying another ride. Not every flight-and-hotel booking includes a transfer. The airport's information about tour-operator coaches explains the pickup process for people who actually have that service arranged, not a universal entitlement.

Havaş is a separate coach option to investigate where its current Antalya service suits the destination. Check its own departure point, operating pattern, stops, fare and payment; do not treat it as city bus 600 or assume Antalyakart pays for it. A route advertised for domestic arrivals is not proof that a coach waits outside every international terminal.

Late arrival: plan from the public exit, not touchdown

Your flight's landing time is not the time you reach a tram platform. Passport control where applicable, baggage delivery, customs and finding the correct exit can all intervene. If the public-transport plan depends on the final departure, compare it with a realistic exit time and keep a usable fallback.

For an arrival after midnight, select the correct calendar date when checking departures. A service listed shortly after midnight may belong to a different timetable day than the evening you have in mind. Confirm the direction as well: a late vehicle from the city towards the airport does not establish a return service at the same moment.

Kaleiçi, Lara and the wider resorts need different plans

Kaleiçi is Antalya's historic core, with a compact pattern of lanes that differs from the airport's wide roads. A tram stop near its edge may be useful, but luggage, gradients and the exact entrance affect the final walk. Ask the property for the most practical arrival point rather than relying only on the centre of its map pin.

Lara covers a broad urban and coastal area in everyday travel descriptions. Kundu and hotel developments marketed with Lara may be farther from the relevant city-bus corridor. Konyaaltı likewise stretches along the western side of the city: a bus reaching the district is not automatically a door-to-door hotel connection.

Belek, Side, Kemer and Alanya require a separate regional or transfer decision. Do not apply a central Antalya fare or ride time to them. If using public transport, identify the appropriate connection and final destination, including any second bus or local journey. A provincial name in a booking does not mean the property lies on the airport tram.

After the transfer, keep the holiday focused on what interests you. In supported cities, RoadMe builds a personalised plan for the whole visit around your time and pace, making it more convenient to organise meaningful days rather than assemble scattered recommendations.

Before leaving the terminal

  • Save the hotel's full address and entrance instructions, not only its marketing district.
  • Confirm your terminal, boarding point, direction and next departure.
  • Prepare a working payment method and a realistic alternative.
  • Include terminal changes, waiting and the last walk in the comparison.
  • For a booked car, check the vehicle, luggage allowance, meeting point and delay policy.
