Getting from Zvartnots Airport to Yerevan starts with a small but important distinction: bus 100 and the Elitebus 201 express are different services. Their fares, payment methods and published operating hours are not interchangeable. A guide that combines the price of one with the timetable of the other can leave you outside the terminal with the wrong ticket.

The useful comparison is the entire journey to your accommodation, including waiting, payment, luggage and the final walk. This guide explains the airport’s published information checked on 27 October 2026, how the Telcell airport ticket works, and when a taxi or booked transfer is the more practical choice.

## Which airport transfer should you choose?

> Once the transfer is settled, let [RoadMe](https://roadme.io/?ref=roadme.io) develop a personal trip plan around your interests and preferred pace in supported destinations. It is much easier to turn scattered ideas into a coherent visit in the app.

Choose bus 100 when its actual city stops work for your address and you have a usable payment option. Consider 201 when it is operating and you can pay in Armenian drams. Compare a taxi when you arrive tired, carry awkward luggage, travel as a group or stay well away from the central bus corridor. A scheduled bus and an immediate door-to-door journey are different products.

| Option | Published fare and payment | Main planning point |
| ------------------------ | -------------------------------------------------------- | ------------------------------------------------- |
| Bus 100 | AMD 500 per person; QR ticket or Visa/Mastercard onboard | Airport publishes daytime and overnight intervals |
| Elitebus 201 | AMD 300 per person; cash in Armenian drams | Published service 07:00–22:00 |
| Taxi or private transfer | Obtain a quote for your address and vehicle | Confirm pickup, luggage and the complete price |

Those bus prices are per passenger, not the cost of a vehicle shared by a party. A taxi quote may cover the car, subject to the chosen vehicle and conditions. For an honest comparison, add any onward journey from the bus stop rather than comparing one bus ticket with a door-to-door taxi for everyone.

## Bus 100: the city service with an overnight timetable

Zvartnots Airport lists route 100 between the airport and central Yerevan. Its published schedule gives departures every 30 minutes from 06:50 to 22:00, then hourly between 22:00 and 06:50\. This makes it a possible overnight option, but an hourly timetable does not mean a bus will be waiting when you clear arrivals.

Treat these as the operator information displayed when checked, rather than a live departure promise. Flight arrival time is not the time you reach the bus: passport formalities, baggage collection and finding payment can change which departure you catch. At night, establish the next departure before deciding to wait outside.

The airport publishes a fare of AMD 500 and three payment routes: an electronic Telcell QR ticket, a paper QR ticket from a Telcell terminal, or Visa/Mastercard payment directly onboard. Cash handed to the driver is not one of its listed payment methods for this service. Carrying cash can still be useful because the ticket terminal offers a cash purchase route.

The official Visit Yerevan information identifies France Square as the city destination for bus 100\. That is a planning reference, not a promise that every hotel described as “central” is next to the stop. Check the current direction, stopping pattern and final walk for your actual accommodation before boarding.

## Elitebus 201: a separate express, with cash payment

The airport also lists route 201 operated by Elitebus. Its published one-way fare is AMD 300 and payment is in cash in Armenian drams. The stated service runs every 30 minutes between 07:00 and 22:00\. Do not use that daytime window as the operating hours of route 100, or assume the 100 ticket is valid on 201.

If your flight lands close to the end of that window, you still need time to reach the public arrivals area. A landing before 22:00 does not establish that you can catch the final express. Check the actual remaining departure with the operator or airport staff before arranging the rest of the evening around it.

Keep a manageable amount of local cash available if you intend to use this option. Do not rely on payment in a foreign currency, an unconfirmed card terminal or a driver providing change for any denomination. Ask about your luggage and the most useful city stop before paying, especially when travelling with several large cases.

The difference between the two bus fares is small in absolute terms. The more important questions are which service is actually leaving, how you can pay, and where it leaves you. Waiting considerably longer or adding a second paid journey may erase the benefit of choosing the lower ticket price.

## How to buy and validate the airport QR ticket

Telcell’s airport ticket instructions describe a one-way ticket from Zvartnots to the centre or in the reverse direction. The published price is AMD 500, or AMD 480 in Telcell Wallet. The ticket must be activated within 30 days of purchase. That purchase window is not a month of unlimited airport travel.

### Using a Telcell terminal

The airport lists four Telcell payment terminals in the public arrivals and departures halls. Telcell’s instructions are to choose the ticket section, select the airport option, enter a telephone number, select the number of tickets and pay. The described payment choices are cash or a bank card at the terminal’s POS device.

The machine issues a paper one-use QR ticket. Keep it flat and accessible rather than putting it deep inside your checked suitcase. Check that a usable ticket has actually printed before walking away. A payment record or a photo of the machine screen is not necessarily the ticket that the bus reader needs.

If the terminal will not accept your telephone number, card or notes, ask for assistance rather than entering a stranger’s details. The published instructions require a number, but do not establish that every overseas number and bank card works in every situation. Leave yourself another payment option or choose another transfer.

### Using Telcell Wallet

Telcell says Wallet identification should be completed in advance. After the application is approved, the described path is Transport, Buy ticket, Airport, then payment. The resulting QR code is held in the tickets section. Installing the app on arrival does not establish that identification and payment will be immediately available to you.

For a short visit, weigh that setup against the small difference between the published Wallet and standard ticket prices. A paper ticket or a working bank card can be simpler than opening a new wallet for one ride. Use the method you can complete reliably, especially when your phone has little battery or mobile data.

### At the bus reader

Present the paper or Wallet QR code to the validator’s QR scanner. Telcell describes a green check mark as the confirmation of successful validation. Wait for confirmation; merely having bought the ticket is not the same as registering it for the journey. If scanning fails, ask the driver before moving away from the reader.

## Bank cards: a listed payment method is not a guarantee for every issuer

The airport lists Visa and Mastercard onboard route 100\. Telcell’s airport instructions also mention Google Pay and Apple Pay for the airport bus. These descriptions identify supported payment channels; they do not guarantee that your bank, particular card or phone wallet will authorise a transaction abroad.

Check that your card is enabled for overseas use and that the intended wallet is already working. Travellers whose cards have international restrictions should not build the entire arrival around a Visa or Mastercard logo. A second practical option matters more than carrying several cards that share the same limitation.

Do not extend the airport bus payment rules to every city bus, the metro, Elitebus or a taxi. Different operators and products can have different arrangements. Equally, a paper airport ticket should not be treated as a general Yerevan transport pass unless the specific product explicitly says so.

For budgeting, separate the local fare from any exchange or overseas transaction charge your bank may apply. The amount in drams is the service price; the amount appearing in your home currency depends on your payment provider. Our guide to [building a travel budget](https://roadme.io/blog/how-to-budget-for-a-trip-and-include-costs-you-might-forget/) helps account for these small but easily missed costs.

## Taxi, app booking or an arranged transfer?

A taxi is useful when its door-to-door convenience solves a real problem: an outlying address, sleeping children, several cases, a late check-in deadline or a passenger who cannot manage the final walk. Compare the complete trip rather than treating every airport taxi as unnecessary spending or every bus journey as automatically easy.

The Armenian Yandex Go service describes showing a price and estimated journey time after you enter the destination, with card or cash payment options. Availability, the selected payment method and the current quote still need checking in the app. A price from someone else’s earlier trip is not a guaranteed tariff for your arrival.

The airport also lists an Eco Taxi presence in the arrivals hall on the first floor, available around the clock. This gives you an alternative to relying entirely on a phone booking. Ask the desk to confirm your actual destination, vehicle capacity, payment method and total charge before accepting the journey.

After an app booking, follow its current pickup instructions and match the car and driver details. Do not join another car because someone says it is the same booking. If the pickup point changes, confirm it through the booking channel; keep your luggage with you while resolving the meeting location.

A private transfer arranged through accommodation can be convenient for a large party, but confirm what the booking actually includes: flight monitoring if offered, waiting time, delay procedure, child seats where required, luggage capacity and cancellation terms. A reservation message without those details can leave expensive questions unresolved.

## Late arrival: choose around the next departure and your room access

Route 100’s published overnight service is useful, but the relevant comparison is the next actual departure plus the final connection. If you have just missed an hourly bus, waiting may be reasonable when you have time and a simple destination. It may be poor value when it jeopardises access to your accommodation.

Tell the property your likely arrival window and ask how to enter if reception is closed. Clarify the date of the reservation when landing after midnight. Do this before flying, while you have reliable communication, rather than trying to solve a room-access problem on the pavement after the transfer.

Keep the address and arrival instructions available offline, charge your phone and save the contact details. Downloaded information is particularly useful when you have not yet arranged mobile data. Keep enough charge for the pickup and property contact instead of using the last battery percentage to compare many near-identical offers.

If you decide on the bus, confirm where to wait and whether there is an appropriate indoor waiting option until departure. Do not assume that a timetable means a particular outdoor stop is staffed or sheltered all night. For the accommodation side, see our [late-night arrival and check-in guide](https://roadme.io/blog/late-night-arrival-how-to-arrange-your-transfer-and-check-in/).

## Luggage, children and reduced mobility change the comparison

For a taxi, count both passengers and bags when choosing the vehicle. A car advertised for a certain number of seats may not have room for the same number of large suitcases. Specify any child-seat or accessibility needs before booking, and obtain confirmation rather than assuming that an ordinary vehicle can accommodate them.

## Plan the return journey separately

Work backwards from the airline’s required airport arrival time, then allow for reaching the stop, waiting and road conditions. Do not use the scheduled flight departure as the moment you need to reach the terminal. If a bus connection would leave little margin, compare an earlier service or a taxi booked for the correct date and time.

> For the rest of your stay, try [RoadMe](https://roadme.io/?ref=roadme.io): in supported destinations the app develops a personal sightseeing plan around what interests you and how you like to travel. Keeping that plan together makes organising the visit much easier.

## Quick answers before leaving arrivals

### Is there a bus at night?

The airport publishes hourly route 100 service from 22:00 to 06:50, with daytime half-hourly intervals. Check the next actual departure. Elitebus 201 has a separate published 07:00–22:00 window.

### Can I pay cash?

Elitebus 201 lists cash payment in drams. For route 100, cash can be used to buy a paper QR ticket at a Telcell terminal; handing cash to its driver is not a listed method. Keep the two services distinct.

### Do I need a local payment app?

Not necessarily. Route 100 also lists paper QR tickets and onboard Visa/Mastercard, subject to successful payment. Wallet setup should be completed ahead of time if you intend to rely on it.

### What should I decide first?

Save your exact address, check the next usable departure and confirm payment. Then compare the whole bus journey with a current taxi quote. The best choice is the one that gets you and your luggage to the correct door with a workable arrival plan.
