For many daytime arrivals at Vnukovo Airport, the metro is the first option to compare: Aeroport Vnukovo station is on the Solntsevskaya line and connects with Terminal A through an underground passage. A separate CPPK train serves Kievsky railway station, buses connect with other parts of the network, and the N11 night bus runs towards Kitay-gorod.

The useful comparison is the whole journey to your accommodation. A fast airport section can still leave a long change and a walk with luggage. Choose by your address, the time you can actually leave arrivals and the bags travelling with you.

## Start with the accommodation address and your realistic arrival time

Save the exact address and the entrance instructions before flying. “Central Moscow” is not a transport destination precise enough to choose a ticket. Identify the nearest useful station and the final walk, rather than judging every option by its advertised city endpoint.

Do not use the aircraft's scheduled landing as the time you will reach a platform. Leaving the aircraft, border procedures where applicable and baggage collection come first. Near the last service, compare a realistic departure from arrivals and keep another option available.

> Once the transfer is arranged, try [RoadMe](https://roadme.io/?ref=roadme.io) to build a personalised plan for your stay around your interests and pace. The app makes it more convenient to organise the whole trip without filling the arrival day with more visits than you want.

For an international arrival, prepare a way to read the address and booking details without relying on a new connection. Confirm a working payment method for your chosen transport before leaving the terminal. An app account and a suitable payment method are separate things.

## Metro, train, bus or taxi: compare the complete journey

| Option | Where it takes you first | When to compare it | What remains |
| ----------------------- | ----------------------------------------- | -------------------------------------------------------- | ----------------------------------------------- |
| Metro | Solntsevskaya line at Aeroport Vnukovo | The metro network suits your address and operating hours | Line changes and the final walk |
| CPPK airport train | Kievsky railway station | The next departure and station location suit you | Separate rail ticket and onward journey |
| 911 or 911k bus | Salaryevo metro station | The Sokolnicheskaya line or that area is useful | Road traffic, metro connection and walking |
| N11 night bus | Towards Kitay-gorod | You can use the actual airport departure window | Your stop and the remaining night journey |
| Taxi or booked transfer | The agreed address or meeting destination | Bags, companions, access or timing favour a car | Pickup, traffic and access to the accommodation |

All options have a final stage. Do not compare only minutes on the vehicle or the price of the first boarding. Add waiting, changes, walking and the effect of your luggage on those stages.

## Using the metro from Terminal A

Follow the airport's signs for the metro and the underground passage connecting Terminal A with Aeroport Vnukovo station. The station opened in September 2023, which is why older guides sometimes describe a bus connection as the necessary way to reach the metro.

Use the line name Solntsevskaya when checking the network. A yellow line on a small image is not enough to establish your complete journey. Check the actual destination station and changes in the official metro information before entering.

The airport station gives access to the metro, not a direct train to every hotel. Depending on your address, you may need one or more changes. Compare their walking and escalators as well as the number of stops.

Daytime service does not make the network open all night. Check the station's current first and last service information, and whether your onward connection is still possible. The last train on the first line does not automatically settle the last connection on another.

For reduced mobility or a heavy load, arrange assistance or confirm an accessible path in advance where needed. A covered connection with the terminal does not prove that every later station change has the same access arrangements.

## Metro fares: an airport stop does not mean a separate airport ticket

At the time checked, the city's published fare for one metro journey using the Troika Wallet is RUB 75\. A one-journey Ediny ticket is RUB 90\. These are different payment products, not two charges to add together for the same passenger journey.

The published refundable deposit for a physical Troika card is RUB 150\. Separate the card deposit from the fare balance when comparing a one-off trip. If you already have a suitable card, check its balance and valid tickets instead of buying another automatically.

For an eligible combination of ground transport and the metro within 90 minutes, the Troika Wallet fare is RUB 112: one metro journey and unlimited eligible ground-transport boardings within that period. It is not unlimited repeated metro entry or a ticket for the separate airport train.

Fares are those checked on 28 October 2026 and can change. Use the exact payment product and the rules for your journey. Do not assume that every bank card or every phone will work merely because a reader supports contactless payment.

## The CPPK train to Kievsky: a different railway product

The airport's current train page directs passengers to CPPK. Its orientation for travel from the airport is roughly hourly departures between 06:15 and 23:15, with about 35–40 minutes to Kievsky station. Check the actual date and direction before relying on a particular departure.

The reverse timetable is different, so a time copied from a city-to-airport guide may not describe your arrival journey. The next available train matters more than the attractive running time alone. An hourly service can lose its advantage if you have just missed it.

Buy the appropriate CPPK ticket and compare its current fare separately. We do not substitute an old Aeroexpress price for it. The train is still a useful option to evaluate even though older airport signs and articles may use the former operator's name.

Kievsky railway station is an arrival point, not the end of every visitor's journey. Add your metro connection or surface transfer from there. If the hotel is already conveniently reached on the metro network, the train's separate wait and ticket may not be worthwhile.

Read the instructions for the ticket you buy. The airline's passenger guide notes activation requirements for electronic CPPK tickets at platform validators. A payment confirmation alone should not be assumed to replace the valid travel ticket and its required activation.

## Do not confuse Aeroport Vnukovo with a similarly named city station

Use the full airport name when searching rail or metro options. Verify that the result is the airport station and the transport product you intend to use. A place name that includes Vnukovo is not by itself proof of a direct connection with Terminal A.

The metro station and the separate railway service have their own routes, tickets and operating information. Do not assume that a search result for one establishes the fare or departure of the other. Read the endpoint names before purchasing.

If an old photograph shows an Aeroexpress sign, use current transport information rather than treating the sign as the booking instruction. Station architecture can remain while the operating company and fare product change.

## Buses 911 and 911k: useful when Salaryevo suits the address

The airport lists both 911 and 911k for the connection with Salaryevo on the Sokolnicheskaya line. Its indicative time for this road section is around 18–20 minutes. That is not the time from arrivals to your accommodation and does not remove traffic or waiting.

From Terminal A, the airport describes access through the lower level and underground passage to the outside, then a short walk along the street to the stop. Follow current signs and check the destination on the vehicle. Do not choose a bus solely because its number looks familiar.

The airport also lists other services and stops, but they do not all have identical walking distances or endpoints. For example, a service useful for a neighbouring area is not automatically the best way towards the centre. Keep the comparison tied to your address.

If the trip continues by metro, check whether the last useful connection will still run when you reach Salaryevo. A bus operating after midnight does not mean that the metro connection is available throughout its entire timetable.

## Night arrivals: N11 has a specific window

The airport lists the N11 night service towards Kitay-gorod at approximately half-hourly intervals, with an airport-to-centre window of 23:30–04:30\. This is the direction relevant to an arrival. The city-to-airport times are different and should not be copied into your departure plan.

Check the exact date, stop and current departure before relying on the last bus. A flight landing near the end of the window may leave too little time to collect bags and reach the stop. A night bus is an option, not a promise for every flight labelled night arrival.

Decide where to get off and how to complete the journey while the metro is closed. The bus passing a station does not mean you can descend into its metro services. Check the final walk and any further night transport for the actual accommodation.

Our [late-night arrival guide](https://roadme.io/blog/late-night-arrival-how-to-arrange-your-transfer-and-check-in/) helps connect transport with access to the room. Confirm the correct booked night, late check-in procedure and a reachable contact. Getting to the street outside is not the same as being able to enter the property.

## Luggage: airline rules and city transport rules are separate

A suitcase accepted by the airline does not automatically meet the rules of every city vehicle. Measure the actual bag and check the relevant operator. Include the practical effort of moving it through a change, not just whether it can physically be lifted onto a vehicle.

The metro's published rule charges RUB 90 for each ordinary piece whose combined length, width and height fall in the 121–150 cm range. The baggage payment is separate from the passenger fare. The metro also limits the permitted number of pieces to two per passenger.

Ordinary bulky baggage exceeding the metro's 150 cm combined-dimension limit is prohibited, subject to the specific exceptions in its rules. Paying a baggage fee is not a way to override the size restriction. Do not transfer these metro limits to buses or CPPK trains.

For an unusual item, check the relevant conditions before choosing the route. A sports bag, mobility aid or bicycle can have its own rules. If the combination is difficult for your group to handle, compare an appropriately sized vehicle instead of assuming the cheapest fare is the best journey.

## Taxi or transfer: compare a quote to the actual address

A car can be worth comparing with several bags, a tired group or an address with an awkward final connection. Confirm the pickup arrangement through the service you choose. Do not follow an unrelated person's verbal offer as if it were your existing booking.

Before confirming, check vehicle capacity, luggage space, required child arrangements and the complete destination. Read the conditions for waiting after the flight and what happens if arrival is delayed. A quoted transfer and an on-demand car do not necessarily have the same terms.

There is no single taxi price or reliable fixed driving time from Vnukovo to every Moscow address. Use a current quote for the actual party and destination, with road conditions included in the comparison. Add time for meeting the driver and reaching the agreed pickup place.

Keep the booking and vehicle details available until you meet. If a pickup instruction changes, confirm it through the booked service. The airport forecourt and a road outside the terminal are not interchangeable meeting points simply because both appear nearby on a map.

## Make the arrival day fit the rest of the trip

Compare two complete options before flying: a preferred route and a workable fallback. Write down where the first ends, the remaining change, the payment required and the last useful departure. This is more useful than a list of every possible bus in the airport area.

Use our [independent trip planning guide](https://roadme.io/blog/how-to-plan-your-first-independent-trip-from-idea-to-departure/) for the wider preparation. Keep the first day's commitments realistic after the flight and transfer. A comfortable arrival can be more valuable than booking a timed attraction before you know when you can leave the terminal.
