For luggage storage in Los Angeles, choose between an off-airport service near LAX, Amtrak’s baggage service at Union Station, a bookable partner shop or hotel, and storage agreed with your own accommodation. LAX itself says it no longer has electronic lockers or oversized-item storage. Do not arrive expecting to find a terminal locker.

The right location depends on where you need the bags afterwards. A cheap address near an attraction may create an inconvenient return before a flight. Prices and service details below were checked on 25 October 2026; confirm your selected booking, collection time and total before handing anything over.

## Choose around the next fixed departure

Start with the place and time you must reach after collecting your bags. For a flight from LAX, include the actual terminal and the airline’s required arrival time. For a train, use the correct station and departure. If returning to a hotel is easy, ask it about storage before paying elsewhere.

| ----------------------------- | ------------------------------------------- | ------------------------------------------------------------- |
| Private storage near LAX | You need bags back for an airport departure | Off-site address or separately arranged collection and return |
| Union Station baggage service | Your day or rail journey suits Downtown | Eligibility, price and baggage-window hours |
| Partner shop or hotel | The exact address fits your day | The business’s collection hours and booking conditions |
| Your accommodation | You can return without a large detour | Permission, supervision and the actual latest pickup |

Los Angeles is not one compact sightseeing centre. Our guide to [choosing areas for a first Los Angeles visit](https://roadme.io/blog/los-angeles-first-visit-neighborhoods/) helps identify which part of the city actually belongs in your day. Use that decision to locate storage, rather than making an unnecessary cross-city journey for a lower advertised price.

## What LAX offers—and what the name does not prove

The airport’s own FAQ states that electronic lockers and oversized-item storage are no longer available, and directs travellers to its directory for baggage-service alternatives. A private website using LAX in its name is not therefore an airport-operated locker counter or a service inside every terminal.

Distinguish three arrangements: taking your bags to an off-site business, booking a partner location near the airport, and paying a provider to collect and return bags at an agreed terminal meeting point. They have different journeys, handovers and charges. “Airport luggage storage” is not a complete description.

Do not assume that a nearby address is a practical walk from your terminal. Check the actual route, access and transport with your luggage. A map’s straight-line distance ignores the road layout and the starting point inside the terminal complex. Paying for a suitable vehicle can change the comparison with a collection service.

Lost and found is also a different service. It handles belongings that have been lost, not an arrangement to leave your suitcase for the afternoon. An airline baggage desk likewise should not be assumed to accept voluntary storage between flights or after you have collected your checked bag.

## A specific off-airport option: LAX Luggage Storage

LAX Luggage Storage publishes its address as 8622 Bellanca Avenue, Suite G, Los Angeles. Its ordinary hours are 06:00–22:00 every day, including holidays. It offers direct drop-off at its office and a separately priced terminal collection and return service.

The provider says to contact it after collecting baggage at LAX, coordinate the handover, and contact it again when you want the bags returned. Confirm the exact terminal, permitted meeting point and contact method with the provider. A published service description does not justify inventing a curb number or promising the same meeting point for every flight.

Services outside ordinary hours are available on request and may cost extra according to the business. That is not automatic round-the-clock access. Obtain explicit agreement before relying on a late-night return, an early drop-off or a handover after a delayed flight.

Its quoted transfer estimates depend on airport traffic and checkpoints. For your schedule, allow for both the request and the actual meeting. Being geographically near LAX does not mean your bag will already be waiting at the airline desk when you arrive.

## Calculate storage, handling and minimum spend together

The business publishes the following rates. They describe this provider, not a standard tariff for all LAX-area storage.

| Charge | Published rate | Unit |
| ------------------------------ | -------------- | ------------------------------------------------ |
| Carry-on-size item | $15 | Per item per day |
| Average checked-size item | $18 | Per item per day |
| Special-size item | $25 | Per item per day; unusual packages can cost more |
| Terminal pickup | $5 | Per item |
| Terminal return | $5 | Per item |
| Minimum, direct office service | $25 | Minimum spend |
| Minimum, curbside service | $35 | Minimum spend |

The important distinction is that pickup and return are separate charges per piece. For one carry-on-size item over one billed day, $15 storage plus $5 pickup plus $5 return equals $25 before applying the $35 curbside minimum. Planning to pay only the storage line would understate this example.

For two carry-on-size items over one billed day, the published components add up to $50: two storage charges, two pickups and two returns. Directly taking one such item to the office would instead meet the published $25 minimum, before your own transport and any separately agreed service. These are calculations from the posted rates, not quotes for every booking.

Ask how the provider counts a “day” for your deposit and return, especially overnight. Do not silently treat that word as a rolling twenty-four-hour period. Confirm the bag category, number of pieces, any unusual equipment and all additional arrangements before agreeing the total.

## Union Station: staffed storage, not public lockers

Union Station’s own visitor information says there are no public luggage lockers and directs travellers to Amtrak Baggage Services for temporary storage. The station is in Downtown, not at the airport. On Amtrak pages, the code LAX refers to Los Angeles Union Station; check the full station name rather than using those letters alone to identify an airport service.

Amtrak lists temporary storage for customers with a valid ticket and for members of the general public with valid photo identification, where the service is offered. Its current rates are $20 per item per twenty-four-hour period for Amtrak customers and $30 for the general public. The applicable rate is charged again at the start of each additional period.

The current Pacific Surfliner guide specifically confirms Los Angeles Union Station storage at the baggage-claim and parcel-check window behind Subway, open daily 04:15–22:30\. It describes the customer rate for a valid train ticket within twenty-four hours. Bring the appropriate ticket or photo ID and confirm the applicable category at the baggage desk.

Do not replace these hours with those of a ticket office, lounge, baggage-assistance contractor or car park. They describe different services. Nor does paying for a twenty-four-hour storage period make collection possible when the window is closed.

The station’s historic spaces are worth noticing, but the old ceremonial ticketing hall is not the same as the working baggage counter. Follow current signs and staff directions to the baggage service rather than choosing the most recognisable interior from a photograph.

## Does Downtown storage make sense before a LAX flight?

It can make sense if your existing day is already around Union Station and you have a workable onward airport journey. It makes less sense if you must travel there solely to deposit, leave for another part of the region, return and then go to LAX. Count those movements before comparing daily storage rates.

The FlyAway service connects Union Station and LAX, but the existence of a connection is not a guaranteed journey time. Check the current departure arrangement and allow for road conditions and the walk to the required terminal. Do not substitute the baggage counter’s closing time for the airline’s arrival requirement.

If your train and flight are separate bookings, decide which fixed deadline matters at each step. Temporary bag storage is not through-checking baggage onto an aircraft. You remain responsible for recovering it and completing the airline’s own check-in or bag-drop procedure.

## Partner networks: confirm the business, not just the map pin

Networks such as Bounce, Stasher, Nannybag and LuggageHero can list storage in shops or hotels. The actual location may be a staffed reception rather than a bank of automatic lockers. Read the selected listing and confirmation to understand where you will hand over the bags.

Compare the final total for your exact dates, number of items and collection time. A citywide “from” price is not a confirmed offer for a convenient airport-side address. Check compulsory charges and whether protection is included or optional, together with the cancellation terms.

Round-the-clock support and round-the-clock collection are different. A platform can answer messages while a partner shop is closed. Check opening hours for the specific day, any break and the latest bag acceptance or collection. If a flight is late, contact the provider before the agreed deadline.

Save the confirmed address, booking reference and collection instructions offline. A screenshot of search results is not a reservation. Where the exact address appears after booking, read the relevant conditions before paying and leave enough time to find the actual entrance.

## Pack for the hours without your suitcase

Keep travel documents, tickets, payment methods, essential medication, phone and suitable charging equipment with you. Add clothing and water for the actual plans and conditions. Do not discover at collection time that the identification needed to recover the bag is inside it.

For flights later that day, keep necessary cabin items separate and follow the airline’s current restrictions. Our [carry-on-only packing guide](https://roadme.io/blog/carry-on-only-how-to-pack-without-excess-weight/) explains how to check the purchased allowance and reduce unnecessary weight. A storage category called carry-on size is not an airline approval.

Before handover, close bags, secure loose straps and record existing damage. Count every item with the person accepting it and keep the receipt or claim information. Ask whether you can access the bag during storage; do not assume that repeated opening or partial collection is included.

For sports equipment or unusually large pieces, send the real dimensions and number of items through the provider’s appropriate contact channel. A category showing surfboards or bicycles does not establish the same price for a multi-item package or every oversized object.

## Agree the return before leaving the bags

Write down where and how collection will happen. With an office, this means the address, opening hours and proof to show. With terminal delivery, it also means contact timing, terminal, the agreed permitted meeting area and what happens if you or the delivery vehicle are delayed.

Work backwards from the next transport deadline. Allow time for retrieval, checking the bags, the journey and airport or station procedures. A minimum charge concerns payment, not a guaranteed turnaround. A paid delivery also does not remove your need to be present for the handover.

If plans change, ask about extending storage or moving the return before the deadline. Confirm the new charge and access time, and retain the reply. Do not assume that an extra day automatically includes another terminal trip or an after-hours collection.

> Once the handover is settled, let [RoadMe](https://roadme.io/?ref=roadme.io) organise your available hours into a personalised programme in a supported city. The app works with your interests, dates and pace, making it more convenient to enjoy the day while keeping a realistic return for your luggage.

## Protection and a useful backup

Check the actual protection terms rather than treating a headline amount as a guarantee for every object. Limits can apply to the bag, booking or contents, with exclusions and evidence requirements. Keep valuables with you where practical, and retain the booking and payment record for any question afterwards.

If a booked business is unexpectedly closed, contact the provider through the confirmation before leaving the bags anywhere. Do not abandon them at a locked door while searching for help. Keep a record of the issue and choose a second service only after understanding the status of your first booking.

A backup should be workable, not just another cheap listing. It needs compatible hours, an address you can actually reach and enough remaining time for your flight or train. If storage no longer fits the available time, changing the day’s plan can be more sensible than adding another uncertain transfer.

## The final check before going without the bags

- The storage address and whether it is off-airport are clear.
- Drop-off and return fit the actual service hours.
- Bag category, piece count and billing period are confirmed.
- The total includes applicable handling, minimums and agreed extras.
- You keep identification, travel essentials and the collection record.
- There is time to recover the bags and reach the next departure.

The useful comparison is the complete arrangement, not the lowest storage line. Knowing where your bags will be and how they will return makes the remaining hours in Los Angeles much easier to use.
