Choose Colosseum tickets by the areas they actually open. Standard entry covers the first and second levels but not the arena floor, underground or attic. Only Arena gives a short visit to the arena rather than the regular tiers. Full Experience is a family of different products: the word “Full” does not mean every restricted area is included.

Ticket information checked on 27 October 2026\. Availability, room openings and individual tour arrangements can change. The comparison below identifies the official admission products; it does not claim that seats on any particular date are currently available.

## Start with the experience you want

Ask one question before looking for the cheapest slot: do you want the regular monument visit, to stand on the reconstructed arena floor, to enter the underground spaces, or to reach the upper levels? These are different permissions. An excellent view of an area from above does not give you admission to it.

> For supported destinations, [RoadMe](https://roadme.io/?ref=roadme.io) develops a personal trip plan around your interests and preferred pace. Planning in the app makes it easier to choose the experience you actually care about and leave comfortable space around a fixed admission time.

Make a short list of must-have areas and acceptable alternatives before paying. If the underground is essential, a regular ticket is not equivalent simply because both mention the Colosseum. If you mainly want the regular tiers, buying a restricted-area product you do not want can add complexity without improving your visit.

The Roman Forum and Palatine appear in several combined products, but their inclusion does not erase each ticket's Colosseum restrictions. Treat the monument entry, archaeological-area entry, permitted dates and special spaces as separate columns in your comparison.

## The official ticket comparison

| Product | Colosseum permission | Validity and reference price |
| --------------------------------------- | ---------------------------------------------------------------------- | ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ |
| 24h Colosseum, Roman Forum and Palatine | Regular first and second levels; no arena floor, underground or attic. | 24-hour product; full admission €18. |
| 24h Only Arena | Arena floor only inside the Colosseum; a 20-minute visit. | 24-hour product; full admission €18. |
| Full Experience Arena | Regular first and second levels plus arena. | Two consecutive days; full admission €24. |
| Full Experience Underground and Arena | The specified underground and arena access. | Two consecutive days; admission €24, or €32 with the stated educational tour. |
| Full Experience Attic | Regular visit and the specified upper-level/attic experience. | Two consecutive days; full admission €24. |
| Full Experience Passage of Commodus | The specific passage experience with an educational tour. | Two consecutive days; check the current tour price and language. |
| Forum Pass SUPER | No Colosseum admission. | For the Forum–Palatine area and the listed additional sites; check its own validity. |

The Colosseum products above also provide their specified Forum–Palatine access. Only Arena and the listed Full Experience products include SUPER-site access under their conditions. Standard entry should not be assumed to include those special interiors merely because it includes the archaeological area.

These are the park's stated admission rates, not a promise about every final basket or guided package. Check the number of tickets, concession category and any additional service before paying. Do not add a universal reservation charge from an unrelated seller's old price table.

## Standard entry or Only Arena?

The standard €18 ticket suits the regular first- and second-level visit. Its stated Colosseum stay is 75 minutes. You can see the structure of the monument and look across the interior, but you cannot walk onto the arena floor or enter the underground simply because you can see them.

Only Arena also costs €18 at the full admission rate, but inside the Colosseum it grants only the arena-floor visit, lasting 20 minutes. It is not a cheaper name for the standard route with an extra platform added. A visitor expecting to continue around the regular tiers would have bought a different experience.

The official Only Arena information identifies the Sperone Stern side for entry and exit. Follow the access instruction on your ticket rather than joining the nearest queue. The standard product uses its own access arrangements, so a meeting point from a friend's different ticket may be irrelevant.

Choose by preference, not by price alone: the two products can have the same admission price and substantially different access. If you want both regular tiers and arena, compare Full Experience Arena rather than assuming that “Only Arena” includes the rest by implication.

## What Full Experience actually means

Full Experience Arena adds the arena to the regular first and second levels. Full Experience Underground and Arena is the product to examine when the underground is the priority. Full Experience Attic opens a different experience above, with its specified upper levels. None should be treated as permission to combine every restricted route.

The underground product lists a €24 admission and a €32 version with the park's educational tour. Check the exact version, language and meeting instructions. Controlled access or accompaniment in a restricted space is not necessarily the same service as the educational commentary package described in the shop.

The attic product is particularly important to assess for mobility. The operator describes steep steps for the attic and restrictions on panoramic-lift use for documented mobility difficulties. Do not assume that an elevator mentioned in the product name makes the entire upper visit step-free for everyone.

The park states a 90-minute Colosseum stay for these Full Experience products. Two days of ticket validity do not mean two days wandering in and out of the monument. They concern the combined ticket's permitted use; each product still has a booked Colosseum admission and entry-count limits.

## The Passage of Commodus is a separate choice

The Passage of Commodus is a particular vaulted passage connecting the imperial area with the exterior, added after the original construction at the turn of the first and second centuries AD. Its interest is that specific historical access, rather than being another name for all the underground spaces beneath the arena.

The current official product includes an educational tour, a short controlled passage visit and the stated wider combined access. Check the tour language and actual dates offered. Do not substitute it for Underground and Arena merely because both descriptions contain an underground space.

This product has its own release window and meeting instructions. If the tour you want is not offered in a language you understand, decide whether the experience still meets your expectations before buying. A product title alone does not guarantee commentary in every language.

## Twenty-four hours and two days are not unlimited entries

The ordinary and Only Arena descriptions provide one booked Colosseum entry and one Forum–Palatine entry under the stated 24-hour relationship to the Colosseum reservation. Read the dates attached to your actual ticket. Do not turn a permission to visit before or after the reserved slot into an assumption that both sides can be used for separate return visits.

Full Experience products are valid for two consecutive days, with one Colosseum admission at the booked time and the specified single archaeological-area entry. Check which pair of dates you will actually use. A Forum visit the day before and another the day after cannot be inferred from wording that offers alternative days.

Opening hours still apply within any validity window. A ticket with 24-hour validity does not keep a gate open overnight. Equally, a late afternoon slot may leave less time elsewhere that day than the calendar label suggests. Check current opening and last-admission times for the visit date.

For arranging the combined visit after choosing a product, use our separate guide to [the Colosseum, Forum and Palatine without overload](https://roadme.io/blog/colosseum-forum-palatine-day-without-overload/). Here the important purchasing question is whether the ticket permits the entries and special areas you want.

## When official sales open

The park's general timed-entry information describes sales opening 30 days before the visit. The Underground and Arena and Attic pages state a 30-day window. However, Full Experience Arena currently states seven days online, and Passage of Commodus also states seven days. One rule should not be applied blindly to every product.

An unavailable date can therefore mean different things: outside that product's release window, not offered on the chosen day, or no available places in the displayed selection. The calendar's own message matters. It is not evidence that an expensive third-party listing is the only remaining way in.

Check each acceptable product separately and keep your must-have areas in view. Do not buy a regular ticket while expecting to change it later into an underground slot. Unless the seller explicitly offers that change under the relevant terms, treat them as different purchases.

Ticket-office availability is not a guaranteed fallback for a specific restricted route. A product being sold on the day does not guarantee your preferred time, party size or special area. Avoid planning an entire day around an unconfirmed possibility.

## How to buy the right official product

1. Start from the archaeological park's own website and its official ticket-booking link, rather than relying on a sponsored result's wording.
2. Select the complete product name and read the included areas.
3. Choose the date and Colosseum slot, plus any required guided language.
4. Add every visitor in the correct paid, reduced or free category.
5. Check names, entry counts, validity, meeting point and the final amount.
6. Pay only after reviewing the applicable changes and cancellation conditions, then save every ticket.

Leave time for security and finding the correct entrance. The ordinary product advises arrival 15 minutes before entry; underground arrangements can require earlier arrival. Follow the current ticket or tour instruction.

Keep the ticket and identification accessible together. For multiple visitors, confirm that all files were issued and that each person has the intended category and slot. A payment confirmation without the required admission documents should be resolved with the seller before you set off.

## Children, concessions and names

The park lists the €2 reduced admission for eligible EU citizens from age 18 until their 25th birthday. It is not a universal student discount for every nationality or age. Bring the evidence required for the category selected rather than assuming a student card alone will establish eligibility.

Under-18s have free admission under the park's rules, but still need the required ticket. The dedicated free-ticket page instructs visitors to book children's admission online. Do not rely on a general older FAQ about collecting free tickets when the specific current instructions require booking, especially for capacity-controlled areas.

A free admission category does not necessarily make a guided service free. Check the precise product and required booking for every child. For a family, ensure the chosen restricted experience has the necessary places for everyone instead of buying adults first and assuming children can be added without limit.

Tickets are named. For visits from 9 May 2026, the park limits name-change requests to one change, by midnight on the seventh day before the visit, and only for its listed reasons, including obvious errors, a category assigned incorrectly within the transaction or serious documented circumstances. This is not free resale or a general date-change right.

## SUPER sites and other products that cause confusion

Forum Pass SUPER is a genuine park product, but does not admit you to the Colosseum. It can be appropriate if your aim is the Forum, Palatine and the listed additional interiors. Do not buy it simply because its name appears near Colosseum products in the same official catalogue.

SUPER means access under the site's opening and capacity conditions, not a guarantee that every room is open throughout your visit. Temporary closures and individual schedules can differ. If one particular interior is the reason for buying, verify its current opening rather than relying on a list copied into a reseller description.

Membership, Domus Aurea admission and seasonal night experiences are separate purchasing decisions. They should not be treated as automatic upgrades that open every Colosseum area. In particular, an advertised night tour must have actual dates and clearly stated access; a seasonal name is not proof that it is running during your holiday.

## Compare reseller packages by the same columns

A third-party guided product may add a guide, audio content or booking services, but compare its underlying admission areas, meeting time, language and cancellation terms with the official option. “Priority” or “skip the line” does not itself mean arena, underground or attic access, and does not remove security screening.

Read what happens if the stated restricted area cannot be provided: whether the booking is refunded, substituted or altered is a condition of that offer. Do not assume every ticket carries a flexible cancellation policy. Our [guide to museum and exhibition tickets](https://roadme.io/blog/museum-exhibition-tickets-times-concessions-refunds/) explains how to compare entry times, concessions and refund terms.

> After choosing the ticket, use [RoadMe](https://roadme.io/?ref=roadme.io) to develop a personal plan for supported destinations around your interests. Coordinating visits and a comfortable pace in the app is easier than fitting unrelated ideas around each fixed booking by hand.

The right purchase has a clear answer to four questions: which areas, how many entries, which dates and what guided service? Check those before comparing headline prices. You can then choose an ordinary visit or a specific special experience without expecting permissions that the product never included.
